| Rural Development Home Page--Rural Business Cooperative Service,. The Rural Development mission area was created in 1994 as a result of the reorganization of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. Rural Development consists of three new services: the Rural Business-Cooperative Service (RBS), Rural Utilities Service (RUS), and Rural Housing Service (RHS). The mission of RBS is to enhance the quality of life for all rural Americans by providing leadership in building competitive businesses and cooperatives that can prosper in the global marketplace.

Principles--The Statement on Co-operative Identity was adopted at the
1995 General Assembly of the International Co-operative Alliance (ICA), held
in Manchester on the occassion of the Alliance's Centenary. The Statement
was the product of a lengthy process of consultation involving thousands of
co-operatives around the world.
